DON’T HAVE ENOUGH MATERNAL COLOSTRUM?
COLOSTRUM SUPPLEMENT DIRECTIONS:
• Within 2 hours after birth: Follow the mixing directions above. Feed resulting mixture of Calf Colostrum Supplement along with at least 2 quarts of clean, disease-free maternal colostrum using a nipple bottle.
• 6-12 hours later: Provide a second feeding of colostrum.
• Day 2: Begin feeding calf milk replacer.
NO MATERNAL COLOSTRUM AVAILABLE?
We recommend Sav-A-Caf® Colostrum Replacer.
IF SAV-A-CAF COLOSTRUM REPLACER IS NOT AVAILABLE, USE COLOSTRUM SUPPLEMENT AS A COLOSTRUM REPLACER:
• Within 2 hours after birth: Follow the mixing directions above by mixing 2 pouches of Say-A-Caf® Colostrum Supplement into 3 quarts of warm water. Feed the resulting mixture using a nipple bottle. Most calves will easily consume this volume of colostrum by nipple. If not, cool the colostrum for 2-3 hours and then re-warm to 100°F and offer again with nipple.
• 6-8 hours intervals: Provide 1-4 additional feedings of Calf Colostrum Supplement.
• Day 2: Begin feeding calf milk replacer.
OFFER FRESH WATER AT ALL TIMES
IMPORTANT: Follow feeding directions. Every calf is an individual. The directions above are written for a calf that is about 75-100 pounds at birth. Adjust the amounts fed according to the calfs body weight, the environmental conditions, and the level of calf disease on your farm. Consult with your veterinarian if you have questions.
