GLEPTOFORTE™

Ceva Biomune

(gleptoferron injection)

ANADA 200-587, Approved by FDA

NOT FOR USE IN HUMANS

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN

DESCRIPTION: GleptoForte™ is a sterile aqueous colloidal solution of gleptoferron, a macromolecular complex of ferric hydroxide and dextran glucoheptonic acid. Each milliliter contains 200 mg of elemental iron. The solution contains 0.5% phenol as preservative.

ACTIONS: GleptoForte™ contains gleptoferron which provides a rapidly absorbed and readily utilizable form of iron for the prevention and treatment of baby pig anemia.

INDICATIONS: GleptoForte™ is recommended for both the routine prevention and treatment of baby pig anemia due to iron deficiency.

NOTICE: Organic iron preparations injected intramuscularly into pigs beyond 4 weeks of age may cause staining of the muscle tissue.

SIDE EFFECTS: Occasionally pigs may show a reaction to injectable iron, clinically characterized by prostration with muscular weakness. In extreme cases, death may occur.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: GleptoForte™ is for intramuscular use only.

Prevention: 1 mL (200 mg iron) per pig on or before 3 days of age.

Treatment: 1 mL (200 mg iron) per pig as soon as signs of deficiency appear.

HOW TO INJECT:

What to use

1. GleptoForte™ (gleptoferron injection)

2. Ordinary 10 mL syringe or multi dose injection syringe

3. 1/2 inch-20 gauge needle

4. Disinfectant (rubbing alcohol or tincture of iodine)

Where to use

GleptoForte™ is for intramuscular use. The preferred site of injection is the ham muscle. Push the needle directly into the ham to approximately a one-half (1/2) inch depth. Avoid injection into a blood vessel. This is best avoided by pulling back slightly on the plunger after the needle is seated in the ham. If properly located, resistance will be offered to this effort. If the plunger is pulled back easily, remove and relocate the needle.

Step 1

The pig is held under-arm, between knees, or by an assistant. Disinfect the injection site. Pull down skin and fat with thumb as shown. Approximately halfway along a line between the anus and the thumb is the best injection site.

Step 2

Before injecting GleptoForte™, point the needle upward and gently press the plunger to expel all air from syringe. The needle is inserted at right-angle to the skin into the ham approximately a one-half (1/2) inch depth and the injection made.

Step 3

Use a new needle between each stopper puncture. Protect the needle from contamination and disinfect between animal injections.

HOW SUPPLIED:

GleptoForte™ (gleptoferron injection) is available in 100 mL multi-dose vials.

STORAGE: Store at 20°C - 25°C (68°F - 77°F). Do not freeze. Use within 28 days of first puncture and puncture a maximum of ninety-five (95) times.

TETANUS TOXOID-CONCENTRATED

Colorado Serum

Adjuvanted

GENERAL INFORMATION: This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy horses, cattle, sheep, goats, and swine against tetanus. This product was licensed prior to the requirement to establish a minimum age for use. The duration of immunity is unknown. For more information regarding efficacy and safety data, see productdata.aphis.usda.gov.

Safety in pregnant animals is unknown.

Tetanus Toxoid is prepared by detoxifying tetanus toxin in such a manner as to allow the antigenic properties to remain intact. Product is purified, concentrated and adjuvanted to provide a low dose effective immunizing agent.

Each serial is tested for purity, safety, and potency in accordance with USDA requirements.

Tetanus is caused by a neurotoxin produced by growth of Clostridium tetani, an anaerobic (lives without air) micro-organism, in necrotic tissue. Affected animals become stiff, have difficulty swallowing, and have an increased pulse rate. Breathing is labored. Spasmodic contractions of the muscular system occur, such as contracting muscles of the jaw.

Spasmodic contractions of the muscular system occur, such as contracting muscles of the jaw. Thus, the term “lockjaw” is often used. Legs and tail are often stiff with abdominal muscles contracted. Tetanus stricken animals may be unusually sensitive to light and heat. Temperature of the animal generally remains normal, elevating only shortly before death.

Protective antibody levels usually occur about two weeks after the second injection of the primary immunization series. In contrast, administration of Tetanus Antitoxin is recommended for immediate, emergency, passive treatment of exposed animals with unknown vaccination history or with signs of tetanus infection.

DIRECTIONS: Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter. Store at 2-8° C. Do not freeze. Do not mix with other products. Shake well before use. Use entire contents when first opened.

PRECAUTIONS: A transitory local reaction may occur at injection site. Anaphylactoid reaction may occur following administration of products of this nature. If noted, administer adrenalin or equivalent. In case of human exposure, consult a physician.

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION: For primary immunization, two doses should be administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly approximately 30 days apart. Use intramuscularly for horses as local reactions are more likely to occur if injected subcutaneously.

Horses: 1 ml IM

Cattle: 1 ml SC or IM

Sheep, Goats, Swine: 0.5 ml SC or IM

Historically, annual single dose revaccination has been recommended. Contact veterinarian for advice.

OTHER INFORMATION: Contains thimerosal and formalin as preservatives. Tetanus Toxoid Concentrate is available in single dose size packaged 10 vials to the carton, and in 10 dose vials.
